My Platform
I’m running for King of the East Nashville Tomato Arts Festival on a Bacon and Basil platform. The annual festival draws 12-18,000 people to celebrate all things tomato. I believe bacon and basil are the primary ingredients in a recipe for success in living an abundant life. And there’s too much pork in Washington. I think we should bring the bacon home, and here’s my plan for doing that:
Bacon-wrapped, stuffed and drunk cherry tomato tots | |
| 1 pint cherry tomatoes | 2 Tbs chopped fresh basil |
| 1 lb bacon | 2 Tbs milk |
| 4 oz softened cream cheese | 3 Tbs maple syrup |
| 2 oz softened goat cheese | 1 Tbs bourbon |
| Slice top from tomato and scoop out pulp. Mix 2 cheeses, milk, basil and salt & pepper. Spoon cheese mixutre into a plastic sandwich bag, snip corner, pipe cheese into tomato. Cut bacon in half lengthwise. Wrap tomato with bacon, covering opening, fry till crisp. Mix maple syrup and bourbon, drizzle “liberally” over tomatoes. Yummm! | |
